March 5 (Bloomberg) — Comedian and actor Robin Williams postponed four shows in Florida this week on the advice of doctors after complaining of shortness of breath.
The dates were part of Williams’s 80-city one-man comedy tour that began in September and is titled “Weapons of Self- Destruction.” He plans to resume the tour on March 11 in Jacksonville, Florida, according to a statement on his Web site dated yesterday.
“Williams was experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being evaluated by doctors who are recommending a week of rest,” according to the statement.
He pulled out of performances in Hollywood, Florida, yesterday and today, Orlando tomorrow and Tampa on March 7. The dates will be rescheduled.
Williams is 57, according to the Internet Movie Database. He began his career as a standup comedian before landing roles in television and movies. He played Mork in the 1970s TV series “Mork and Mindy.” His movies include Robert Altman’s “Popeye” and “The World According to Garp.” He won an Oscar for his performance as a psychologist in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting.”
